A Louisiana man has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for killing a prostitute in 1992 and dumping her body on a farm.
Steven Kasler, 32, entered the plea Monday in Madison County Common Pleas Court to a charge of aggravated murder in the death of Charlotte Lane, 32, of Columbus. Her decomposed body was found Oct. 25, 1992, in a rural area west of Columbus.
Mr. Kasler had been serving a 99-year sentence in Louisiana for robbery when he told authorities he had been involved in several killings in Ohio.
Dan Huston, an assistant Madison County prosecutor, said Tuesday that while Mr. Kasler had information about unsolved crimes, he has not been linked to any more deaths at this time.
